Ayurveda is a system of healing originated and practiced for more than five thousand years and its relation to Indian philosophy is derived from the Vedas – the divine texts of knowledge originated in ancient India. The fundamentals on which the Ayurveda system of medicine stands true for all times since they are based on human factors and on intrinsic causes. Civilization, human habits, life style, environment, job culture etc. are continuously changing that might compel certain modifications on the diseases; but the symptoms and the reactions to the disease are mostly the same since the human being is the same as his ancestor. The methods adopted to cure the disease may differ in their form but not in their essential approach. Ayurveda is not only of healing the sick, but the prevention of illness and preservation of life which makes it a complete system of medicine and healthcare. ‘Ayuh’ means life and ‘Veda’ means to know. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means ‘The Science of Life’.
The word Samwarthika means tender leaf. Ayurveda uses the leaves of herbs and plants since its inception for both medicines and diet. It has identified enormous therapeutic potency for each and every plant on their judicious use. It is how the leaves provide food and air to help a plant to stay healthy and grow, Samwarthika help the patient to stay healthy.
